2000.EXE

This program will fix the Y2k bug found in some computers that causes the clock to change year to 1994 or 2094 each time the computer is started if the year had been set to a year that is not in the range 1995 to 1999. Should your computer insist on the year 1980 instead, 2000.EXE may correct that too.

2000.EXE is NOT a TSR (terminate and stay resident) program and thus it will not use any of your valuable memory or processor resources. It executes once during computer startup and corrects the date if it is found to end with 80 or 94. It then exits and allows the computer to continue as normal. The time taken to run 2000.EXE is so short that you not notice any delay.

To use, insert the following line into your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:

2000   +0

The above command will be good until the year 2001. At that time, and in January each year thereafter, increment the +0 to +1, then +2 and so on. For example, for the year 2011 the command line will read:

2000   +11

For full instructions, execute 2000.exe without any parameters.
