Dual Mode Login for The Jewellery ShopkeeperPassword protection and user profile switching
Locking the workstation, and selection between two pre-set user profiles, is as easy as pressing the space bar while at any highlight-bar menu. Preparation:Add and/or edit the user password file (Utilities, Passwords, User) and make at least one of the users an "Administrator" (full access user) by putting the code *ADMIN* into the Programs field of the user password. Edit the properties of the "Shortcut" icon (Right-click, Properties, Program) and change the Cmd Line. Look for the number after the "JSK.EXE" and make it a two-digit number. The first digit is the Administrator profile number (1 to 3), and the second digit is the P.O.S. (Point Of Sale) profile number (4 to 9). (The second digit can also be 1 to 3 if all users are to have full access. In that case only screen locking is provided.) Example: Usage:When started, and every time the screen-save is activated by means of the spacebar, the computer will ask for the user name and password. Depending on the user name entered, the computer will select either the first digit or the second digit of the two-digit profile number. User password disabling:If the licence option; PassKeys=Off is entered (in Utilities, Set parameters, Licence - Opts), then the user login password is only required when first starting the program. At other times the user password is not required. After initial login, the program stays in the user password selected profile until the program is Quit completely. Barcode Pass KeysThe Jewellery Shopkeeper is designed to allow quick entry of User Passwords by means of a bar coded jewellery tag that can be worn on a string or attached to a key ring. The tag has the salesman/supervisor's name (in full) and a bar code. The bar code consists only of the 4-character user code. In most places in the program, when the user/operator name & password is called for, the password will only be required if the code is entered manually. This saves time and increases security, because the holder of the key tag need not know his own password. Key tags can be printed using Inventory, Procedures, Labels, UserDefined. The setup codes for this option depend on the make & model of bar code printer. Shopkeeper Solutions offer a service to print the key tags for you. You must supply the name (two words of up to 10 characters each) and four-character alphanumeric code for each key tag, and the quantity of each that you require. |
