By setting the suffix after the port specification foor the voucher printer (printer 3), several standard cash drawer interfaces can be used.
1 or 2 = serial control of COM1 or COM2 respectively
A or B = RS232 code 7 control to COM1 or COM2 respectively
7 = Code 7 control to same port as voucher printer
D = Epson 40-col. slip printer + cash drawer control
Modern cash drawers come ready to use with cable that simply plugs into the back of your computer. For older or non-standard cash drawer controllers, the following tips may be helpfull:
The following instructions are for the wiring of the connector that plugs into the computer that is used for point-of-sale. The Jewellery Shopkeeper will only by supplied with the required software option, free of charge, on request.
COM1 is just an example of the control options that are offered.
- Shorting together pins 5, 6, 8 and 20.
- Connect pin 7 of the 25 pin plug to till common.
- Connect pin 2 of the 25 pin plug to till signal.
Your COM1 till control may have been set to work only for user 5. The user number is controlled by the program command line: JSK n (where 'n' is the user number 1 - 6).
User numbers 4, 5 and 6 are limited POS users and prevent access to unrequired functions. To get into 'set parameters', start the program as user 1, 2 or 3 and then select the required user number when going into System constants.
If you wish to dissable the till (it will, for example, 'hang' if the specially prepared cable is not plugged in), go to Utilities, Set parameters, System constants and change Printer 3 suffix to BLANK, e.g. [LPT1/ ]. Users with a customised till control may need to blank out the LPTn as well.
